The Witches Will Get Another Chance

Director Robert Zemeckis adaptation of Roald Dahl’s 1938 novel “The Witches” is set to hit theaters on October, 16th, 2020. Oscar winner Anne Hathaway is reportedly going to star as the “Grand High Witch”. In the 1990 adaptation Anjelica Huston played the role, so it will be interesting to see how Anne Hathaway plays the part.

Zemeckis is writing and directing based on the book about a kid who stumbles across a coven of witches who hates kids. The witches secretly inhabit our world and the boy is forced to stop them even after they transform him into a mouse.

Zemeckis reportedly is going to follow the book unlike the original 1990 film. The orginal film boomed in the box office and was rejected by Dahl prior to his death in 1990 because the end of the movie was different from the book.  The film ended up gaining cult status years later and now many fans are excited for the new film.

What do you think about it? Do you think it will be better or worse than the original?
